Assistant President For Scientific Affairs
Mosul university was established on the 1 st of April 1967 to become one of the famous scientific centers in iraq. It includes 22 colleges.
Mosul university awards B.S.c, B.A. diploma, M.S.c and Ph.D. degrees in different scientific fiels whyich amount up to 100 specialization.
First: preparing national staff through qualifying students scientifically to enable them to shoulder responsibility in building the country.
Second: supporting scientific research development.
University Council: consists of the president of the university, the membership of the scientific and administration assistance and deans as well as the representative of the teaching staff and teacher's union.
The following sections are attached to the president's office:
1- Secretary's office: organizing the mail of the university and visitors.
2- Follow up section: takes care of the president's instructions, interviews, and the private president email.
3- Top-secret section: follows up the secret mail between the ministry and the university.
4- University Council Secretariat: organizes the agenda of the council meetings and informs the ministry and the university decisions to the related institutions.
5- Halls of Residence: include 22 halls, each of wich receives the students coming from outside the city of Mosul who are admitted to the university.
6- Auditing section : to audit the accounts expenditure and store.
7- Database Unit: concerned with the information which is particularly related to the teaching staff, employees, students and all other university equipments.
8- Scientific promotion: follows up the scientific promotion of all the teaching.
9- Legal section: concerned with all the legal university affairs such as lawsuits, contracts and all other related subjects.
Assistant President For Scientific Affairs:
The following sections are connected with him:
1- Planning and information: includes planning, computer, and internet works. This department prepares the scientific planning, annual reports for all the university activities and their staff. Furthermore, it evaluates the work of all the university staff members and follows up the university requirements of time apparatus.
2- Central Library: supplies the students, researcher and all other university staff with their information requirements.
3- Graduate Studies Section: administrates the admission of the post graduate students.
4- Scientific and Cultural Affairs Section: includes the scientific and import affairs. It is also concerned with the delegates, courses and scientific conferences outside the country and it supplies all the university requirements, such as, instruments and chemical substance.
5- Research and Development Section: concerned with developmental activities as well as supervising the following research centers:
-Environment and Pollution and Control: this center is to accomplish all the studied and research relevant to the environment and provide all their requirements.
-Regional Studies Center: the aim of this center is to conduct studies, researches, books, publications, symposiums, and conferences about the nieghbouring countries.
- Mosul Studied Center: it is concerned with publishing scientific research and studies related to Mosul ancient and recent.
- Remote Sensing Center: it includes two department; Natural Resources Department which applies the remote sensing technique in order to prepare specific maps. And the Image Processing Departments, which deals with the engineering correction and to improve all type of space data.
- Electronic Computer Center: it gives counciling service in the field of computing science to both the university and community.
- Water Resources and Dams Research Center: which is responsible for the administration of water resources and research and studies relevant to dams.
The following units and departments are affiliated to it:
1-engineering Affairs: it deals with all the engineering projects of the university and arranges the morphology of the established buildings and constructions.
2-Physical Education Directorate: it is responsible for coordinating championship of all type of sport between different colleges and universities.
3-Ibn-Al-Atheer House for typing and publishing: it publishes books, journals, magazines and translated works, as well as arranging exhibitions and making link with other publishing houses.
4-Finance and Stores Affairs Directorate: it coordinates the financial affairs of the university.
5-Reconstruction Directorate: it is concerned with the university constraction, which includes furniture and laboratories.
6-The Nursery: it takes care of the infants of the university staff and employees.
7-Media and Public Relations Department: it covers the university activities by all type of media.
8-Students Affairs Directorate: which is responsible for the admission and registration of the students and the extra curricular activities of students.
9-Administrative Affairs Department: coordinates the administrative relation. It includes these departments: the personnel office, university security guards, technical services, communications, and administration services.

College of Administration and Economics: includes 6 departments

College of Physical Education: includes 3 departments.
College of Dentistry: includes 5 departments.
College of Law: includes 2 departments.
College of Pharmacy: includes 3 departments.
College of Basic Education: includes 9 departments.
College of Nursing: includes 2 departments.
College of Fine Arts: includes 2 departments.
College of Computer Science and Mathematics: includes 4 departments.
