About the Department:
The translation Branch was
established in 1976 as apart of the European Languages Dept. in1987 it became,
an independent department. The adminstrstive staff includes the head of
department, the secretary, the lecturers. the teaching staff includes 24
lecturers: four Assistant professors, fifteen lecturers, and five Assistant.
The department awards B.A. lecturers in
translation (for both Morning and evening studies), and M.A degree in
linguistics and Translation.
The research projects carried out in
the department are academic ones, specialized in translation and Linguistics.
About (2425) student have graduated from this dept. since the year 1976-1977
till 200402005.
The higher studies started in the year
1993-1994 for the M.A. degree and 2001-2002 for the ph.D. degree. However, the
latter has been suspended due to lack
in the teaching staff.
The evening studies started in
1994-1995; about (691) students graduated till the academic year of 2004-2005.

Activities :
The Current year :
The Dept.
participates in all the conferences held in the college of Arts. It also takes
part in all the sessions relative to translation and general Linguistics. It has
shown good presence at the third annual conference of college of Arts held in
March 2006. In addition, seminars and sessions are eventually held by lecturers
of the dept. and M.A candidates.
