About The college
The College of Arts was founded in 1967. It achieved
status as an academic edifice of human sciences at the University of Mosul.
Then, it rapidly turned into a prominent landmark illuminating the high spot of
the campus on which the college stands.
Yet, the college's existence is a matter of function
rather than of buildings. Armed with researchers specialized in major areas of
research covering ten departments, the College of Arts not surprisingly became
one of the pillars of higher education in Iraq.
Over a quarter of a century, the College of Arts has been
a continual source of teaching courses primarily in foreign languages and
translation. It has always been a social center which successfuly embraces the
whole spectrum of society.
One of the best-known publications issued by the College
is the periodical magazine "Adab Al-Rafidain". The first number was issued in
August, 1970. The magazine covers ample areas or academic researches specialized
in different domains of human sciences.
