About the Department:
Geography Dept was established in 19775 ,as a branch
of history Dept in literature college of Arts .
After establishing the college of education,
geography dept. was transferred to it to be a part of the Social Dept in
addition to the history and psychology Dept. In 1981 psychology department was
separated to leave other departments together ,and geography became an in
dependant department
This Dept.has been developed and improved and now it
contains nineteen lecturers with different academic qualifications Geography
Dept.gives approved for the B.Sc. ,high diploma , Master , and Ph. degree ,and
fulfills many researches in geography (GIS) and published in the Iraqi Atlas .
Also the Dep. staff presented researches in
different subjects each year.
