About the Department:

The Department of Physics is one of the important scientific departments in the college of education . It was founded in 1975 as a branch of the department of physics and mathematics , but with the increase of the number of students and member of staff become an independent department with a large number of staff of different scientific degrees and  academic titles in many fields of physics . The aim of the department is to graduate students be able to understand and teach the basic principles and concepts of classical and modern physics theoretically and experimentally which help them to be succeful teachers in secondary schools . The post graduate studies (Msc. and Ph.D) started in the academic year 1994-1995 which require the student to pass a one year courses in advanced topics of physics after which he must do a research project in a one of the following fields :

1.Laser physics .

2.Atomic and nuclear physics .

3.Solid state physics / thin film .

4.plasma physics / meteorology and theoretical physics .
