About the Department:

    The first and eldest department of the college was established in 1963. the department then included the followings laboratories: materials, soil mechanics, hydraulics, Asphalt and surveying. The department includes two branches, general civil engineering and environmental engineering which was introduced in 1994 for the first time. The main topics of specialization in the department are related subjects, that is, structures, soil mechanics, highway and traffic and environment etc. The academic staff was mainly non Iraqis at the beginning but now, the staff is all Iraqis since 1986. The system studies in the department depends mainly on yearly subjects and to a lesser extent on sessional subjects (courses), both theoretically and experimentally (practice).
