The department started on 1981-1982 and includes the following units: 1- Radio diagnosis unit. 2- Ultra sound unit. 3- Angiographic unit. 4- Radiotherapy and cobalt unit. 5- Computerized Tomographic unit.
Radiology as other scientific field shows rapid progress and development in the world and Iraq is the country which is included in this aspect. This rapid development in this field necessitates the need for a qualified staff to cover this need and to provide the medical health centers and universities by the well trained doctors in this field; in this aspect the department qualified (84) doctors since 1989 till-now (2005).
The aim of our radiology department include: 1- To give the radio diagnosis subject for the medical college student for the 5th class, Undergraduate, and for the postgraduate student. 2- To qualify radiologist doctors with diploma degree (DMRD) to be ready to work in the medical health centre. 3- Sharing in teaching and training the student in the Iraqi board degree, since our department is one of the centre included in this post graduate study. 4- The members of our department work in the hospital in most of the radiological field in radio diagnosis, ultrasound, C.T. and MRI and are involved in giving the consultation related to their specialty. 5- The members share in the project and papers in their field periodically.
Consist of the head of the department with five other members representing different branches of radiology
1- The members share in the special committee in radio diagnosis, radiotherapy in Nineveh health office. 2- They share in postgraduate committee in the medical college. 3- The scientific committee in the department. 4- The members share in the postgraduate examination committee. 5- They share as reference for the medical journal to assess the paper and thesis in our college and other universities.
The Current year : - 1- Arrangement of periodic seminar, talk and meetings to discuss up dates subjects in the radiology field. More than (12) seminar are fulfilled. 2- Teaching and assessing the postgraduate students. 3- Giving lectures for the 6th years students in our college in C.T. field. 4- Giving lectures for postgraduate student in other scientific department as for anatomy, physiology and other colleges, and technical institutes. 5- Giving lectures for postgraduate student in the ENT specialty in the board study, and also in orthopedics and dental surgery. 6- The member of the department works as consultant in most of the official hospital in various units like, MRI, CT and radio diagnosis. 7- Sharing in the 1st meeting for the cancer of urinary tract systems in Jordan ( in the Al-Hussain centre). 8- Attendance in the 4th middle east conference in Malezia-Qualalambour 8-13th \ march \2006. 9- Attendance of all meeting in the medical college. 10- Training of the medical doctors in the college of medicine of Nineveh.
